  3. Click Download crop.

How it works

The Image Cropper lets you trim any photo or graphic to exactly the region you need. Upload your image, then drag the corner handles of the selection box to define the area you want to keep. The tool displays a live preview of the cropped region as you adjust.

When you are happy with the selection, click Download to save the cropped portion as a PNG file. All processing happens inside your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API, so your image is never sent to any server.

Cropping is useful for removing distracting backgrounds, composing a tighter shot for social media, or cutting a single element out of a larger graphic. Common uses include preparing profile photos, isolating product images, and creating thumbnail images from screenshots.

For best results, upload the highest-resolution version of your image before cropping. Cropping a small image and then enlarging it produces blurry results, whereas starting large preserves sharpness.

Worked example

Crop a profile photo to show only the face

  1. Click Upload Image and select your photo.
  2. Drag the top-left handle inward until the selection sits just above the forehead.
  3. Drag the bottom-right handle up until the chin is near the lower edge.
  4. Adjust left and right handles to center the face.
  5. Click Download to save the cropped PNG.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Uploading a small, low-resolution image expecting a sharp crop -- start with the largest file available.
  • Forgetting to click Download after setting the crop region, then closing the tab and losing the work.
  • Cropping too tightly so important details at the edges of the subject are cut off.
