How it works
Brick Bounce is a Breakout-style game where a ball bounces around the screen and you control a paddle at the bottom to keep it in play. The ball destroys bricks on contact; clear all bricks to complete the level.
Steer the paddle left and right with arrow keys or by moving the mouse. The angle at which the ball leaves the paddle changes based on where on the paddle it lands: edge hits send the ball at a steep angle while centre hits return it more directly upward.
Some bricks require more than one hit to destroy, and some release power-ups when broken. Power-ups can widen the paddle, multiply the ball, or add other beneficial effects.
The main skill is anticipating where the ball will travel after each bounce and positioning the paddle before it arrives rather than reacting at the last moment. Track the ball throughout its entire path, not just when it nears the paddle.
Worked example
Clearing a stubborn top row
- Aim the ball into a corner so it bounces between the side wall and the top bricks repeatedly.
- Once the ball is trapped in the upper region, make only small paddle corrections to keep it in play.
- The ball will clear top rows without requiring precise upward shots each time.
- When the ball returns to the lower half, resume normal play to clear remaining bricks.
Top rows cleared with minimal risk by exploiting corner ricochets.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Watching the ball only near the paddle instead of tracking its full arc to prepare positioning early.
- Always hitting with the paddle centre, which sends the ball straight up and makes side bricks hard to reach.
- Moving the paddle past the ball's actual destination by overreacting to an unpredictable bounce.
