How to play

  1. Press Space, tap the canvas, or click FLAP to launch the bird.
  2. Keep tapping to flap and stay airborne — gravity pulls the bird down constantly.
  3. Fly through the gaps between pipes without touching them or the ground.
  4. Each pipe you clear earns 1 point; try to beat your best score.

Press Space, click/tap the canvas, or press the FLAP button to keep the bird airborne. Navigate through the pipes. Every pipe cleared = 1 point!

How it works

Flappy Flyer is an arcade-style reaction game. You control a small character that falls due to gravity; pressing Space or tapping the screen gives it a brief upward flap. The challenge is to navigate through a series of gaps between pipe obstacles that scroll in from the right, without touching the pipes or the floor and ceiling.

Scoring is based on how many pipes you successfully pass through. Each successful pipe passage adds one point, and the game ends the moment you hit any obstacle.

The key skill is learning to make short, controlled taps rather than holding or mashing the button. Aim to keep the flyer near the vertical center of each gap as it approaches, and anticipate the next pipe height immediately after passing through one.

This game is a quick, satisfying reflex trainer. It is intentionally challenging — short sessions are normal, and gradual improvement comes from developing a feel for the flapping rhythm.

Worked example

Getting through the first three pipes

  1. Press Space once to launch and immediately tap again to level off near the center of the screen.
  2. Watch the first gap approaching — adjust your height with short taps to align with the gap center.
  3. Pass through, then immediately assess the second pipe's gap height.
  4. Tap once or twice to rise or fall toward that gap's center before reaching it.
  5. Repeat for the third pipe, maintaining small corrective taps rather than large flaps.

Three pipes cleared, score reaches 3, rhythm established for continued play.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Pressing Space too many times in quick succession, causing the flyer to rocket upward into the top pipe.
  • Waiting too long between flaps and letting the flyer drop below the gap before correcting.
  • Focusing on the current pipe instead of glancing ahead at the next pipe gap to plan your trajectory.

Key terms

Flap
A single upward impulse applied to the character by pressing Space or tapping, counteracting gravity briefly.
Gap
The vertical opening between the top and bottom pipe sections that the flyer must pass through.
Gravity
The constant downward pull on the flyer that causes it to fall when no flap input is given.
