Use arrow keys or on-screen buttons to move your character across busy lanes of traffic. Reach the top to score — avoid the cars!

How it works

Road Cross is inspired by the classic Frogger arcade game. You guide a character across multiple lanes of moving traffic, aiming to reach a safe zone on the far side. Vehicles travel at different speeds in different lanes, and contact with any vehicle ends the run.

The game tests pattern recognition: each lane has a consistent vehicle speed and gap frequency. Observing the rhythm of gaps before stepping into a lane dramatically improves survival. As you complete more crossings, traffic density and speed increase.

Road Cross is a pure browser game -- no download, no sign-in. It is a good pick for anyone looking for a short concentration exercise that also develops quick visual decision-making.

Worked example

Completing your first crossing

  1. Start the game and pause a moment before stepping off the curb.
  2. Watch the nearest lane to identify the gap between vehicles.
  3. Step forward into the first lane during a gap.
  4. Pause in the median (if one exists) to assess the next lanes.
  5. Continue crossing lane by lane until you reach the far side.

One successful crossing recorded; traffic increases for the next attempt.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Rushing into a lane without watching at least one full vehicle pass to judge speed.
  • Trying to cross all lanes in one continuous sprint rather than pausing in gaps between lanes.
  • Forgetting that vehicles in adjacent lanes may travel in the opposite direction, so looking only one way is dangerous.

Key terms

Lane
A single horizontal strip of traffic moving at a uniform speed in one direction.
Gap
The empty space between consecutive vehicles in a lane through which the character can safely pass.
Crossing
One complete trip from the starting side to the safe zone on the opposite side.
