Find which fiscal/calendar quarter (Q1–Q4) any date falls in.
How it works
This tool tells you which calendar quarter (Q1 through Q4) a given date falls in. The standard Gregorian calendar year is divided into four quarters: Q1 is January through March, Q2 is April through June, Q3 is July through September, and Q4 is October through December.
Enter any date and the tool instantly returns the quarter label, the start and end dates of that quarter, and the number of days remaining in the quarter from your chosen date. No configuration is needed for standard calendar quarters.
Knowing the quarter of a date is useful for financial reporting, tax planning, sprint scheduling, and any workflow that organises work into three-month blocks. Business analysts, accountants, and project managers use quarter lookups daily to assign transactions, deadlines, and goals to the correct reporting period.
Note that some organisations use a fiscal year that starts in a month other than January. If your company's fiscal year starts in April, Q1 for you is April through June. In that case, mentally offset the result by the number of months your fiscal year is shifted from January.
Worked example
Which quarter does a product launch fall in?
- Enter the planned launch date: 2025-05-14
- Click Calculate
- Read the result: Q2 (April 1 to June 30)
- Note that 47 days remain in Q2 after May 14
Q2, April 1 to June 30, 2025
Common mistakes to avoid
- Confusing calendar quarters with a company fiscal quarter that starts in a different month.
- Assuming Q4 ends on November 30 -- it ends on December 31.
- Forgetting that quarter boundaries are fixed dates, not rolling 90-day windows.
