How to use this tool

  1. Enter the number of nights you are staying.
  2. Enter the total nightly room rate (the price for the whole room).
  3. Enter how many guests are sharing the room.
  4. The calculator shows each person's cost per night and total for the stay.

Calculate each guest's fair share of a shared hotel room for any number of nights.

Formula

Nightly share ($/night) = room rate ($/night) ÷ number of people

Total per person ($) = nightly share × number of nights

How it works

This calculator divides a hotel room's nightly rate equally among the guests sharing it, then multiplies by the number of nights to give each person's total cost. It assumes all guests share one room at the same nightly rate and that the split is exactly equal. Taxes, resort fees, and incidental holds are not included and should be added separately.

Worked example

Worked example

  1. Nights = 3, nightly room rate = $200, people sharing = 2
  2. Nightly share per person = $200 ÷ 2 = $100/night
  3. Total per person = $100 × 3 = $300

Nightly share = $100/night, total per person = $300
